Designing Modern Health Care

Description of project: St. George’s Community Hospital, North East London

Keeping local hospitals open

BDH Community Ventures were commissioned by NHS Havering to carry out a high level study on the feasibility of redeveloping the St George’s Hospital site

to provide a new modern Health Centre.

The study considered the retention or replacement of the existing buildings within the site and looked at the potential for other uses. BDH Community Ventures worked to provide realistic solutions that addressed the needs of the local community; analysing local health data for the area, examining trends, financial data and architectural drawings, and detailing maintenance and upgrade costs for the premises.

Following the success of the Feasibility Study, NHS Havering appointed BDH Community Ventures to manage the redevelopment of the Health Centre and produce a Business Case for Department of Health approval.
